This pair of matching Canadian Pacific RR class lights are extremely rare and very old. Most steam locomotive class lights are the standard 'Diver's Helmut' style. This pair is of a different style. These lamps are two sided with mounting brackets also on two sides (see photo #1). One light has the full stem on it and the other has the stem missing.
Appear to be built as electrical and not converted from oil. The electrical cord would attach to a junction box on the side of the smoke box. The bottom of the lights have levers (see photo #2). The lids are hinged and operational (see photo #3). The bottom of the lamps have 'CPR' in raised lettering (see photo #4). On the base of each light is a Mitchell logo, patented 1926, and with a serial number (see photo #5.)
