Canadian Pacific Railway Baggage Check Punch
(very rare – circa 1920's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)
CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their passenger related items through their own shop "CP Bygones". This model punches the letters "BC" which would indicate that the passenger had checked baggage. It was purchased directly from CP Bygones and stored for 30+ years. In excellent condition (no rust or discoloration) considering it dates back to the 1920's-1930's. Although it doesn't have a CPR ID mark (none did), it does have the individual CPR number (all punches were sequentially numbered) and this one is numbered 998 (see photo 3). ID plate attached with "McGill Metal Products - Chicago" engraved on plate (see photo 3).
