Canadian Railway General Orders - 1907 to 1912
(Fascinating reading from Board of Railway Commissioners)
This 200 page soft cover book was purchased from the Canadian Pacific Railway back in the late 1970's. This was the first publication of the Board of Railway Commissioners for Canada titled "Circulars and General Orders issued by the Board from its Inception to October 1912". Over 200 subjects covered including: Accident Reports, Protection of wooden trestle in summer months, Disinfecting passenger coaches, Release covering carriage of silver and other valuable ores, Operation of snow ploughs (ie: plows), Testing and inspection of locomotive boilers etc. etc. Has indexes under subject and number. The outer spine shows some wear but the overall binding is still very good and will allow regular use. A very diverse and fascinating look back into the Rules and Regulations of railway operations in Canada at the turn of the Twentieth Century. This book was printed by the Federal Government Printing Bureau in Ottawa in 1913. This is an original edition, not a reprint.
