Canadian Pacific Railway Silver Plated Oval Tray
(very rare – circa 1920's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)
CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their silverware used in their dining cars through their own retail shop called "CP Bygones". This 12" by 8 3/4" oval tray was purchased directly from CP Bygones and stored for 30+ years. Used in both the bar and dining room to serve drinks or coffee/tea. Underside of tray engraved with item #8960 and crested with "Elkington & Co." (Sheffield, England) and "A.T. Wiley, Montreal" (Canadian distributor). CPR scripted logo on outer rim of tray. This style and size of tray dates back to the 1910's-1920's. Item was quadruple plated and has stood up well for its decades of use and is in very nice original condition. Has a few minor scratches on the inner flat portion of the tray and 5-6 very small nicks along the outer edge - so small, won't show up even in a close up digital photo.
