Canadian Pacific Railway Sleeping Car Curtain for Berth #9

(EXTREMELY RARE – circa early 1940's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)

CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their passenger related items through their own shop "CP Bygones". This is one of their rarest items.  NEVER LISTED in the Bygones catalogue.  Full (upper and lower berths) sleeping car curtain in excellent condition.  This green style curtain was used on the older heavyweight cars in CPR transcontinental and branch service in the 1940's and the early 1950's.  When CP introduced their brand new stainless steel consist on 'The Canadian' in 1953, the sleepers were delivered with blue curtains of felt construction.  But this earlier green version would have been still used on the U class sleepers on 'The Canadian' and also on any older heavyweight cars in service on ''The Dominion' and smaller branch line trains into the late 1950's.

I bought three sets of these curtains and have sold two previously but this set is the best of the three in terms of condition.  A couple of very small holes were professionally repaired by CPR before sold to me.  There is one hook at the top middle missing (still have 9 of 10 hooks which won't affect it being hung). Cloth, hangers and grommets in extremely good condition considering it is over 80 years old.  This is the last curtain left in my inventory.
