Canadian Pacific Railway Conductor's Ticket Punch
(very rare – circa 1920's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)
CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their passenger related items through their own shop "CP Bygones". This model punches the letter "L" which validated tickets for reduced rate transportation. It was purchased directly from CP Bygones by this seller and stored for 30+ years. In extremely good condition considering it dates back to the 1920's-1930's. Although it doesn't have a CPR ID mark (none did), it does have the individual CPR number (all punches were sequentially numbered) and this one is numbered 1840 (see photo 1). ID plate attached with "McGill Ticket Punch Co." engraved on plate (see photo 3). Item is listed in the 1977 CPR Bygones Collection Catalogue on page 17. These CPR ticket punches are increasingly hard to find.
