Canadian Pacific Railway Silver Plated Rose Vase
(very rare – circa 1920's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)
This vase was purchased by this seller directly from CP Bygones and has been stored for 30+ years. Vase usually contained a rose or spring flowers at each dining car table. This vase was professionally re-plated by CPR just prior to CPR exiting the passenger train business. Item was initially quadruple plated. There are no marks on the underside of the base and this vase was manufactured by Elkington & Co in England (as was almost all of CPR's silverware). This re-plated vase is listed in the 1977 Bygones catalogue on page 5 as item #1039 AR (indicating it was re-plated). This style of vase dates back to the 1910's-1920's. It is in extremely nice condition.
This same vase is listed at $500 on another Canadian railroad collectible website.
