CPR Fairbanks Morse Diesel Builder's Plate from Class DRS-16

The Last Remaining Set of FM Builders Plate

When Canadian Pacific Railway discontinued their transcontinental passenger service, they sold most of their inventory through their 'CP Bygones' shop opened in the mid 1970's. This seller purchased these two plates directly from CP Bygones as part of 22 sets of FM builder's plates and has stored them for over 40 years.

This is the last remaining set to be sold. It is rare to have both the main plate and the 'Powered by' plate together from the same unit. This is a CLC (Canadian Locomotive Company) set of plates from CPR 'Baby Trainmaster' unit #8552. This FM locomotive had serial #2895 (see photo #2) and was built in July 1955 and retired on March 20, 1972 after being involved in a wreck at MP 20.7 on the Rossland Sub on Nov. 1, 1972. It was scrapped at Ogden Shops in Calgary.

Photo #3 was taken by Stan Styles in Nelson, BC in July, 1969. Maroon and grey 'block' paint scheme Photo from the Bill Sanderson collection.

Photo #4 shows the remains of CP 882 at Ogden Yards in Calgary in late 1972, in the CP Rail small 'mulitmark' paint scheme. Photo by Bruce Chapman. From the Bill Sanderson collection.

Plates will be shipped with both photos and a history sheet suitable for framing.
