CPR Fairbanks Morse Diesel Builders Plate

This builder's plate was removed by CPR from Fairbanks Morse unit #8713 in 1969.

Built by CLC in 1957 with serial #2962 (see close up photo 2).  The engine was a class DRS-16j and the accompanying photo of the engine - photo 3 (courtesy of the Stan Styles collection) was taken in Nelson, B.C. in the spring of 1969.  Just a few months later, #8713 was in a wreck at MP 4.5 of the Windermere Sub on August 20th, 1969 and was retired shortly after (see photo 4 courtesy of  Bruce Chapman, 1974 from the Bill Sanderson collection).

The plate comes with the "Powered by Fairbanks Morse" bar also taken off the same unit.  Both plates were purchased by the seller directly from the CPR in the mid 70's from their 'Bygones Shop'.  These plates are very rare and seldom are for sale.  There are some score marks on the mounting holes (see photos) and two marks on the 'Powered by FM' plate (see photo 1) but otherwise in very good condition.
